Enrollment

We’re so excited to welcome your family to the CCS community! Whether your child is just starting preschool or preparing for their first day of kindergarten, this is the beginning of a joyful journey filled with play, discovery, and growth. Below, you’ll find helpful details about how to enroll, what to expect, and how we’re making early learning accessible and welcoming for all families—starting with kindergarten at your neighborhood school and, beginning in 2026, preschool at our new Charlottesville Early Learning Center

Note about rezoning: If your family is impacted by rezoning changes going into effect in 2027 or 2029 and you wish to “start early” at your neighborhood’s rezoned school, register for your currently zoned school and then complete an out-of-zone request form (available in the spring).

Preschool

Starting in Fall 2026, preschool (ages 3 and 4) will be in our division’s new Charlottesville Early Learning Center (CELC). Our preschool is for families that meet the eligibility requirements, helping children become kindergarten-ready through play and learning activities.

Show Your Bee Spirit

  • We take care of ourselves, we take care of each other and we take care of this place.”

  • “Good Day” (based on the Nappy Roots song)

We’re gonna have a good day,

and all my friends are here today.

My teacher helps me all the way.

I’ll do my best to learn today. Hey!

We’re gonna have a good day.

We’ll read and write and have some play,

and nobody’s ever gonna cry today.

After School at Summit

We have an active clubs program as well, led by teachers and parent-volunteers who wish to share a skill such as photography, cooking, or dancing.  Clubs usually meet for terms of 4-6 weeks.

  • If you are interested in leading a club session, please contact the principal.
